Our History Helped Build a Nation
Museums & Living History of the 18th & 19th Century
The Fort LeBoeuf Historic Campus preserves the stories of the region from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, including the 1753 mission of young George Washington, all within 2 city blocks. The campus sits at the south end of Waterford Borough, on the property that once was the location of French, British, and American Forts.
French & Indian Museum
Experience a look at 18th Century life in our region. Indigenous People, French Soldiers, and English Traders collided and set the course for American Independence.
Washington Statue
See 21-year-old George Washington wearing a uniform in service to the British King, on his visit to the first Fort LeBoeuf.
18th Century Gardens
Walk among the agricultural environment familiar to Indigenous People, French Soldiers, and early American Settlers. See chairs made with 18th Century tools, and fabric woven using only local plants and minerals.
Eagle Hotel
Experience 19th Century hospitality that would have been extended to those traveling by stagecoach. See rare etchings of the life of Washington, and learn about local Civil War Units and life during this time. The Eagle features a restaurant on the first floor, with a wonderful museum and gift shop upstairs.
Amos Judson House
Walk through rooms featuring the domestic life of the Judson & Vincent families, two prominent families in Waterford’s development.
Genealogy Center
