The Burleigh Legacy Alliance was created to revive the legacy of Erie-born Harry T. Burleigh as a baritone singer, composer, role model, arranger, champion of African American traditional music, and artist of the Harlem Renaissance and celebrate the contributions he made to the music of America and the world. Sites and historic markers connected to Burleigh’s legacy are incorporated into the countywide African Americans in Erie County: A Trail of Shared Heritage (www.sharedheritage.org).
