Local Reenactors Commemorate Gettysburg’s 150th

The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee’s second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the “High Water Mark of the Rebellion”, Gettysburg was the war’s bloodiest battle with 51,000 casualties. It was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln’s immortal “Gettysburg Address”.

Over the next few days members of the 150th Bucktails and the 111th and 145th PA Volunteer Infantries and Cushings/Taylors Battery reenacting groups from the Erie and Crawford County area are joining thousands of reenactors from all over the country in commemorating this important national event.

The Blue Gray Alliance’s 150th Commemoration and Reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg offers large-scale historically accurate battles, speakers, period music, and vendors June 27-30, 2013 at the Bushey Farm, 1845 Pumping Station Road, in Gettysburg.

The 150th Gettysburg Anniversary National Civil War Battle Reenactment takes place just outside of Gettysburg over four days, on July 4, 5, 6, & 7.  The event includes spectacular battle re-enactments, field demonstrations, a large living history village, living history activities tents, guest speakers and an extensive sutler area. Thousands of reenactors from across the nation and around the world stage the battle reenactments for this very special reenactment.  Visitors to the camps learn about Civil War Medicine, music, weapons and daily life during the conflict that defined our nation and saved the Union!
