A Look at North East, PA Through Vintage Postcards

“Postcard are great snapshots of history and several years ago I thought that a book made up of postcards of North East would be a very nice thing,” Dick Tefft, a founding member of the North East Historical Society, wrote in the forward of his book A Look at North East, PA Through Vintage Postcards.

The book includes about 250 postcards from the society’s own files and private collections. Many of the them date from 1900 to 1940. Tefft collaborated with longtime North East Middle School teacher Charles Wagner to gather postcards, and students in the school’s History Club scanned them for use in the publication and future projects.

A Look at North East, PA Through Vintage Postcards can be purchased at the Grape Country Marketplace on W. Main Street, as well as the North East Historical Society at 25 Vine Street, which is open Friday and Saturday, 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. Proceeds from book sales go directly to the society.
