Lake Shore welcomes rail expert Randy Gustafson

Lake Shore Railway Historical Society, will host special guest Randy Gustafson, Vice President of Operations/Transportation Analyst of Stone Consulting at the Society’s 62nd Annual Banquet on Saturday, May 5, 2018.  The event will be held in Wesleyville at St. James Place, just a few blocks from the Erie General Electric Locomotive Assembly Plant.

Randy Gustafson has been actively involved in the development of short-line railroads, tourist railroads, streetcar lines, and museums for over 40 years.  He is an expert who has helped a large number of groups to recognize ways to improve their bottom lines.  He is a longtime Board Member of Heritage Rail Alliance (formerly The Association of Tourist Railroads and Railway Museums).  Regionally, Randy assisted with the creation of several shortlines in Pennsylvania from Conrail and CSX castoffs, including the Allegheny Valley Railroad, Wellsboro & Corning, and Oil Creek & Titusville.  Nationally, he is active with the Texas State Railroad, West Virginian Central, and Altoona Railroaders Museum.  Randy is a native of northwestern Pennsylvania; his family was once involved in the lumber and shortline railroad history of what is now the Allegheny National Forest; he is an active model railroader and has significant knowledge and expertise with Climax Locomotives and the Wheeler & Dusenbury/Hickory Creek Railroads.
