Three Lights Tour – Erie’s Historic Lighthouses

Offered by the Erie Maritime Museum

Visit Erie’s three historic Lighthouses on a guided tour, presented by the Erie Maritime Museum, on Saturday, June 30, 2012.  Trolley will board at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Blasco Library, tour departs promptly at 1:00 p.m., and returns there at 4:00 p.m.  Admission to the Erie Maritime Museum to view the North Pier Light’s 4th Order Fresnel Lens, along with related exhibits on Lighthouses and the US Life-Saving Service/US Coast Guard, is included in the tour price.

Joining us on the narrated tour will be a costumed Lighthouse Keeper, in full uniform such as the Presque Lighthouse Keeper would have worn in the 1920’s.  Stops on the tour include Erie’s Land Lighthouse, the North Pier Light, and the Presque Isle Lighthouse.  Participants will be able to climb the tower of the Land Lighthouse, and the North Pier Light will be open, for a rare peek inside at the inner works of this automated navigational aid!  Access will be given to the private grounds of the Presque Isle Light, for the best photo ops.  Tour price:  $25 per person; $20 for Flagship Niagara League Members.  Seating is limited; only pre-paid reservations will be accepted at the Erie Maritime Museum Gift Shop, (814) 452-2744 ext. 208.
